Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Knodd (“Knodd”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a product operated by Cryptatus, collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you access or use the Knodd website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password hash. We never store passwords in plain text.
Subscription & billing data. Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment processor, Dodo Payments. We receive limited billing metadata (subscription status, renewal date, customer reference) but do not see or store your full payment card details.
Usage data. We log anonymised interactions with the Service such as page views, refresh actions, votes, and aggregate engagement metrics for the purpose of improving product quality.
Device & technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) may be retained for security and abuse prevention.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To deliver the news feed and, for paid users, real-time content.
- To process subscriptions and entitlement changes via Dodo Payments.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To improve the product, including model output quality and ranking.
- To send essential service notifications (billing, security, policy updates).
3. Legal Bases
Where the GDPR or comparable laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (account & subscription), legitimate interests (product analytics, security), consent (optional communications), and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the processors required to operate the Service:
- Cloud hosting and database providers used to run the application.
- Dodo Payments for subscription billing and lifecycle events.
- AI providers used solely to classify public news headlines (no user PII is sent).
- Authorities when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Data Retention
Account and subscription records are retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period thereafter to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting privacy@knodd.in.
6. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@knodd.in.
8. International Transfers
Knodd is operated globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
